April GENERAL: Sow Sunflowers and plant out Sweet Peas. TREES, SHRUBS & PERENNIALS: Plant Trees, shrubs & perennials either before buds break or at least before they flower. VEGETABLES: Plant main crop Potatoes, remove covers over Rhubarb, sow Broad Beans, early Carrots, Lettuces and Peas. Plant out vegetables from March sowing. Harvest any remaining Leeks. FRUIT: Continue to feed existing strawberries. Plant new Strawberries for fruiting this year. Plant Tomatoes in heated greenhouse or indoors. HERBS: Plant frost-resistant herbs (e.g. Parsley, Thyme, Sage). LAWNS: Gradually lower the blades on your mower. WILD LIFE: Clean and top-up your Bird Feeders. Hints
